Gosport by Boat – For the Solent

Vessels under 20m long

entering and leaving must use the small boat channel on the west side of the Harbour entrance, from No 4 Buoy to Ballast Beacon.

Haslar Marina, Gosport Marina and Royal Clarence Marina

are on the west side of the Harbour;

Gunwharf Marina & Camber Dock

are on the east. Vessels crossing to Gunwharf and Camber must do so at right angles north of Ballast Beacon, after requesting permission from QHM on VHF Ch 11.

Stay tuned to Ch 11

when North of a line OSB to Gilkicker for vessel traffic information from QHM Harbour Control. In an emergency, if you believe you have not been seen or you are unsure of a ship’s intentions, call on Channels 11 or 16 then go to a working frequency for intership safety messages.


Speed limits

Within Portsmouth Harbour – 10 knots
Within 1,000 yards of the shore in any part of the Dockyard Port of Portsmouth – 10 knots
Within Wootton Creek to the west of the mouth of the creek – 5 knots
